From early days living in London, I felt called by sound, particularly by the exquisite quality of great words – like those written by great Poets such as Shakespeare, Byron, Blake and Keats. Words deeply inspired me, and opened a gateway through my consciousness, through imagination to spirit. This significantly occurred when I’d evolved away from an earlier confusion with Synesthesia. Synesthetic people possess a sensory crossover (either singular or multiple), and in my case this meant I saw sound as a light force, as well as interpreting its significance through the spoken word. But, because of the Synesthesia I found it almost impossible to read effectively until puberty, much to the chagrin of my Teachers. However, at twelve or thirteen, I began to interpret through sound what I was hearing in my soul.
One of the proverbs that helped me see as a child was scribed by William Blake, whom I felt very closely connected to, having seen his spirit in St James’s Piccadilly when I was about six or seven. Childhood was filled with similar seeings, particularly of Ghosts, Angelic Orbs and the Elemental Spirits from nature.

Professional life began in the early 1970′s, having trained as an Actor/Teacher specializing in Voice & Theatre Studies. I soared through the richness of the voices that existed then, for this was a time when many Repertory Theatres burgeoned throughout the United Kingdom, allowing one to learn the exciting spell-craft of the Actor.
Alongside working as an Actor, I also taught Theatre Studies, fulfilling a burning sense of altruism stimulated by a wish to help others, and based on the privileges of childhood. For seven years I moved between the magic of Theatre and the ritual of Education, before being offered Summer Stock in the USA, and then consequential work on Broadway. This experience brought with it broadening horizons, as a blanket of drowsiness lifted further from my consciousness, and I began to clearly perceive the interconnectivity of life within the Universe.
Whilst in New England I discovered much about my spiritual lineage through a series of remarkable encounters with natural landscapes, spiritual teachers and transcendental visions. These ‘rites of passage’ began preparing me for the unfolding pathway of work as a Sound Healer and Seer, and somewhat diluted my career as an Actor.
Instead, I felt wholeheartedly drawn to the sacred teachings of the Native American people. Of how they lived in co-creation with nature, honoring the pulse of the Great Mother’s earth-soul, breathing the Holy Wind of Wakan Tanka, made alive by the Great Father of the sky. Subsequently, I began training with a Shaman.
Lamentably, this time of discovery was cut short by the fact that my dear Mother became terminally ill, and so I returned to the UK voiceless with grief, nursing her for a short time before she passed away. Suddenly life changed utterly…
This was 1980 and my career as Voice Coach began after an encounter with Cicely Berry, under whose auspices I taught at the ‘Guildhall School of Speech and Drama’. In 1981 I became the Head of Voice at the prestigious ‘Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art’, continuing until 1998.This was a period of accelerated growth through the laboratory of my teaching, experiencing the gifted young people who came to study at the Academy (many of whom are household names today), my expanding private practice, and through meeting or working with major teachers from the growing wisdom culture of the human potential movement.
In addition, I worked pervasively throughout the West End Theatre: at the ‘Actors Centre’, with major Theatre companies such as the ‘Actors Touring Company’ and with West End Production Companies, alongside becoming a Voice Mentor for the Really Useful Theatre Company.
However, it was during the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, and after several years of using my abilities to perceive the supernatural as a Medium or Seer, that I visited the world’s Heart Chakra Energy Centre – Glastonbury Tor, and experienced the divine transmission of twelve Archangels. Through their gracious teaching, these extraordinary light beings appearing as Orbs, gave me a temple of sound healing, which I’ve progressively brought into creation since the mid 90’s.
This Temple is known as THE ALCHEMY OF VOICE, and its canon of work evokes the ability to embody knowledge through the medium of sacred voice, and regards the compassion of the heart as the ‘seat of the soul’. Furthermore, the teaching inspires that we each have a unique signature-note resonating from the secret chamber of the heart, which creates the ‘song of our soul’.
Voice Alchemy arises from the intelligence and compassion of the heart, and as sound is at the core of creation, the work tunes the personality of the voice with the breath of the soul. The Angels teach that as a healing art this was first known in Atlantis and then Egypt, when human life was less cerebral. Indeed, the epilogue of my first book ‘The Alchemy of Voice’ gives a full account of the awesome experience on the Tor – when I truly began to feel the full embodiment of the essence that lives: “in the beginning was sound, and the sound was made flesh, and dwelt among us full of grace and truth.”
In 1997 I was invited to be the Resident Master of Voice at ‘Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’. This Theatre project had just opened, and Mark Rylance as Artistic Director wanted his actors to use authentic voices, resonating the words of the bard with a respect for Form and a zest for Truth. For ten years I lived this remarkable experience, alongside which in 2001 I was invited to be the Head of Voice at the newly reformed constitution of the ‘Drama Centre London’, which I resigned from in 2008.
The role of Master of Voice allowed me to travel the world facilitating Masterclass processes, training premier theatre companies such as ‘Classic Stage Ireland’, ‘Chicago Shakespeare Theater’, ‘Long Wharf Theater Connecticut’, and the Moscow ‘Arts Lab’.
Clients have included the luminaries of the entertainment industry such as Maria Aitken, Frances Barber, Minnie Driver, Kathryn Hunter, Josie Lawrence, Janet McTeer, Julia Ormond, Vanessa Redgrave, Kelly Reilly, Samantha Spiro, Jonathan Cake, Simon Callow, Jack Davenport, Julian Glover, Matthew Goode, Ross Kemp and Mark Rylance – just to name a few.
In addition, my work as a Master of Presentation, (www.stewartpearce.com) has allowed me to work with many eminent personalities such as Diana, Princess of Wales, Dame Anita Roddick, and the presenters of the LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC BID. My client list extends throughout the corporate arena, with personnel from companies such as: ALLEN & OVERY, L’OREAL PARIS, BT, BBC, ITN WORLD NEWS, MCKINSEY & CO, MERRILL LYNCH, GOLDMAN & SACHS, WPP, MOMENTUM PR DUBAI, VIDAL SASSOON, REUTERS, BARCLAYS, and MCKENZIE BOSTON.
